Beyond the Border- impressionsgallery

My favorite part of this exhibition was the relation of works that stood with deep contrast to each other. Work that surely impacted me were those of Sophie Gerrard. A work that stood in contrast with that was of Stephen McLaren’s portrayal. Sophie Gerrard’s work documents the intimate life that the Scottish woman form in their own environment. The work shows a series of images that fully expose the sincerity and pureness of their own aesthetic. She expresses the things that en roots such individual with such an ambiance. The Scottish representation takes a different perspective when one looks into McLaren’s perspective. His work exposes the artificial, stressed, flamboyant qualities that the viewer is forced to accept. The artificial lightning and idealized figures brings out a feeling of disorder. Although they both bring into light a totally different view point, each work unveils a deep intellectual development.
