“There is a crack in everything.
That’s how the light gets in.”

Leonardo Cohen

01 shoot

Through this first shoot light was giving way in every direction and I could not find a right balance. After finding out the proper way of lightning the set up , I focused on one key light.

After analyzing in-depth the key light. Another soft light and reflector were placed in order to give out lighter quality to the photographs presented.

Today I tried to visualize a series of work that brings out a great balance with light features. Through this set one is able to understand the relation between the persona presented and the ambient upon which such a work is established in.  This workshop has allowed me to understand in further depth the concept idea of light and how to illuminate a scene. The right adjustments of different lights that are currently used; mainly those of Tungsten vs. Fluorescent light sources.  The Tungsten halogen has brought out the illuminating feature that stands on top of the persona. Together with this lightening a key light has been added to allude daylight atmosphere in the background.

Inspiration from Julia Fullerton – Batten

A photographer that seeks to capture and envisage a narrative built with ‘tension’ and drama.( L’oeil de la photographie- Tuesday 11th February 2014). She does this by by infiltrating or connecting contrasting elements in one composition. in doing so she creates a reaction upon which the viewers become part of.

Work such as that of ‘Korea’ and ‘A testament of Love’ expose her technical light skills upon which she is able to bring out her message through out the narration. Through tactile and tangible qualities she is able to create a pressure in all the proper places in her composition. All this  recalls to the ‘object petit’ that Freud refer to where she outlines the lack and desire for something.

‘object petit’ – desired objective of Freud.
